2016 World Championships
Last week, team USA dominated the World Indoor Championships in Portland, OR by taking home 13 gold medals and 23 medals in total. We're so proud of these athletes for representing team USA the way they do—with consistent hard work and fierceness! Take a look at some of the great performances from last week:
Boris Berian won the men's 800m at his first Indoor World Championships.
Brenda Martinez came away with 5th in the 1500m.
Laura Roesler earned 4th in the women's 800m in her first international competition.
Brittney Reese won a gold medal in the long jump.
Matt Centrowitz won the men's 1500m.
Ashton and Brianne Eaton both won gold medals in the heptathlon.
Sam Kenricks took the silver in the men's pole vault.
Jenn Suhr took the gold in the women's pole vault with Sandi Morris coming in 2nd.
Trayvon Bromell took the title in the 60m dash.
Erik Sowinski earned a bronze medal in the 800m.
Ashley Spencer with a silver medal in the 400m.
Erik Kynard earned a bronze medal in the men's long jump.
Ajee Wilson earned a silver medal in the women's 800m.

Team USA also won 13 gold medals, breaking the previous record of 10, achieved by the U.S. in 2012. Michelle Carter set an American indoor record to win the shot put at 66 feet, 3 ¾ inches (20.21m); the first U.S. woman to win the shot at WIC. UO alum Matthew Centrowitz claimed the first men’s 1,500-meter gold medal ever by a U.S. runner at WIC. Ashton Eaton became the first man to ever win three straight golds in the heptathlon at the WIC. Jenn Suhr and Sandi Morris gave the U.S. a 1-2 finish in the women’s pole vault for only the second time in WIC history. Brittney Reese won her third straight WIC long jump title, raising her total global championship gold count to nine. Nia Ali joined Lolo Jones as the only two American women to win successive 60m hurdle titles at World Indoors. Trayvon Bromell (20 years, 252 days) became the youngest man to ever win gold in the 60m at the WIC. Vashti Cunningham (18 years, 62 days) became the youngest American ever to medal at World Indoors and the youngest woman to win the high jump at WIC. -IAAF World Indoor Championships
